Angelfire Tutorial
Building Your First Webpages Using Angelfire's Free Online Advanced Editor
This lesson will assume that you have studied HTML at one or more of our recommended Design Sites ...if you haven't done that yet, go do it and return here
and we will show you how to use www.Angelfire.com's Free Online Advanced HTML Editor to write your newly learned HTML code, and thus to build your first webpages...
Once you learn this proceedure you will be able to use their Online Advanced HTML Editor to continue to add new webpages, and to create more Directories or Folders within which you can place more webpages or Image Files etc.
Use Angelfire until you "get the hang of it" and then find a low cost Pay Host and build your pages Offline on your PC using a text editor, and upload them to your Pay Host online, using an FTP Program on your PC... See Our HTML Tutorial for that method of page building (recommended)...
Using Angelfire, which is a FREE Web Host, will produce a REAL World Wide Web URL (Web Address) for your webpages and you or anyone can use any Web Browser to View your pages! However Angelfire will place THEIR Advertisement Banners at both the top and bottom of ALL of your pages (as compensation for giving you their FREE web space). Later when you can command a better understanding of webpage design, you can open an account at a more Professional Host which will NOT place any banners on your pages (but will charge for the hosting)!
In addition your Angelfire URL (Web Address) for your pages will include the Domain Name of Angelfire, followed by the extension of whatever user name you have chosen... but when you move to a more Professional Web Host, you can find and purchase your own Domain Name and Transfer it to your new Host, so that you will have the URL that you (probably) really want for your web address...
Angelfire provides many extra "Tools" and Links for you to investigate and possibly use to help you build webpages... but this Tutorial will help you to "Get Started" in the RIGHT Direction, so to speak, so that you will have COMPLETE CONTROL of your HTML Source Code by using the ADVANCED EDITOR, and thus become a REAL Web Master of your pages...
OK now let's get started... point your web browser to www.angelfire.com ... it's always a good idea to quickly look over their front page first to see all of what they have to offer...
Now click the "Sign Up For FREE Today" link:

On the next page, click "Sign Me UP":

On the next page you need to choose your USER NAME and PASSWORD... This is VERY IMPORTANT... write down your complete user name on a piece of paper (including the directory name that you may select from the Drop Down Menu, and include the name that you choose to enter in the box (to the right)...

EXAMPLE: "/planet/magicdave" and write down your chosen password on a piece of paper (you will need to re-enter it to confirm it)... DO NOT FORGET THESE... altho on the next page Angelfire might want you to "Modify" your user name because someone else has already chosen it, so then write down the complete modified user name EXAMPLE: "/planet/magicdave2" ...
Continue to check (or uncheck) the boxes down the rest of the page and fill in the required information for your birth date and email... finally click "I Agree" at the bottom...
If you get the next page saying something like "The member name you chose is already in use" then select another choice and continue down again and click "I Agree" again... until you finally get to the next page which should look like this (in part):

Choose "Build A Website With Angelfire Web Shell" and click "Next"
The next page will open in the Angelfire Web Shell:

This is the File Manager that allows you to manipulate and select web page files, and directories so that you can begin using your knowledge of HTML... but FIRST you SHOULD DELETE all the pre made Directories that Angelfire has set up for you... later you can create your own new Directories as you need them... so for now go ahead and click the first directory that's listed in the box, "/_private(0.00k)date here" and then when it turns blue or becomes highlited, click the Button above the box named "Delete" ...this will take you to the next page which simply asks you to confirm your decision, so just click "Delete" again...:

Next you will return to the File Manager at the Web Shell... you need to continue this Deleting Process , highliting and clicking the "Delete" Button for ALL OF THE REST OF THE DIRECTORIES that are there, until you are left with just the file "index.html" which you should NOT DELETE, since it is your first webpage:

Well finally you can now highlite that file "index.html" and click the Button above named "Edit" ... which will take you to this page:

HERE IS WHERE YOU MUST SELECT THE "CONVERT" BUTTON to take you to the ADVANCED EDITOR:
You will get a WARNING PAGE next... just continue to click "Convert" and you will arrive at your first look at your Advanced HTML Editor:

Your webpage address will be listed directly above the Editor Box ... it will be something like http://www.angelfire.com/planet/magicdave/index.html and you can click it and a new smaller window will open to show you what your current webpage looks like...

So now you have at your disposal, a true HTML Editor, and you can type into the Editor Box, any of your HTML Codes and experiment (a lot, I think) and just click the "Save" Button when you want to finalize your changes... then when the Web Shell returns, you can click the URL link to "See" what your new page looks like (or you can also just type your URL into your Browser's Address Bar and hit Enter on your Keyboard) but remember that the old page might be cached by your web browser, so you might need to Refresh the page...
You can create new pages and new directories for pages by using the tools farther down the web shell page:

As you continue to study and learn the "ins and outs" of the Advanced Editor and Angelfire's Web Shell, as well as your continuing learning experience with coding HTML... you will undoubtably be on your way to becoming a Real Web Master!
