The Magician places himself into a Crystal Cage Box which sits 6 feet high above the stage floor supported by only a thin pedastal column under the center... then his female assistant covers it with a cloth, while still holding his hand thru an opening in the front of the cloth... Then while holding a second large cloth, she disappears INSTANTLY and the Magician appears in her place INSTANTLY! Then magically the Magician removes the first cloth covering the Crystal Cage and the female assistant is now within the Cage, where the Magician originally was!
#40 Super Metamorphosis Illusion
The trick is done with a double female assistant, who initally is hiding behind the Cage Box on a secret rear platform upwards directly behind the Box and cloth... so she can easily reach forward thru a slit in the rear of the cloth and place her hand thru the hole opening... this is done quickly after the cloth is dropped down in the front! The audience thinks it is the Magician's hand!
At the same time, the Magician crawls out the rear and the female assistant crawls into the Cage Box.
Behind the larger second curtain, the Magician moves into place down onto the stage floor and makes the "switch" with the assistant there... she then, while still behind the curtain, moves behind the center pedastal support which has on either side, a blacked-out panel extension downwards to the floor about 6 inches wide, to provide complete hiding of her standing body, where she remains until the finish of the illusion and no one can see her emerge...
Meanwhile the audience is directed up to the Crystal Cage, and the cloth is removed revealing her body INSIDE the box which as you now know, is actually the double female assistant!
ALL of this is practiced hundreds of times beforehand to get the timing and actions down pat which combined with the background music and stage lighting ... produces this startling grand illusion!
